SalonSpot vs Vagaro
All-in-one salon management and booking software. Calendars, online booking, marketplace, and POS. Not a phone hire. Vera Receptionist is a $10/mo Connect messaging add-on, not a voice desk.

Where Vagaro is the better fit
- Mature platform. Marketplace, POS, and calendars in one ops console.
- Low software sticker. U.S. start is $23.99/mo limited-time. $83.99/mo at 7+ calendars.
- Self-serve when demand is widgets and marketplace. Clients book on the listing, app, and social widgets.
- One ops console. Keep Vagaro as the book if the shop already runs on it.
Where SalonSpot is the better fit
- Someone on the line. Vagaro does not answer inbound voice. Vera is Connect chat. AgentZap and RingBooker sell phone overlays on top of Vagaro. Those are their pitches.
- Flat $547 at salon volume, Platform included. The $160 software lane is not stacked on top. The beta salon took 302 calls in July. See /learn/salon-phone-report (467 calls, 106 of 295 booked).
- Nail-shaped booking. Menu, techs, parties, and SMS on the SalonSpot calendar.
- Suite plus desk, not a bolted overlay. Platform is the first-party book: site, 24/7 online booking, two-way texts, reviews, rewards, and the owner dashboard. The desk reads that same live calendar (services, durations, techs, hours) and creates a real SalonSpot appointment. Confirmation texts, review asks, and rewards fire from that booking.
- We do not claim native Vagaro write-back. Front Desk books SalonSpot. We do not sell webhook-into-Vagaro. Keep Vagaro and the ringing gap is still the desk.
Our honest verdict
Choose Vagaro as the book. Choose an overlay if you keep Vagaro forever. Choose Front Desk $547 (Platform included) to stop missed calls and put appointments on one SalonSpot book.

Frequently asked questions
- Does Vagaro have built-in answering?
- Vera Receptionist is a $10/mo Connect messaging add-on. It replies to listing-page chats and, with a text plan, SMS. It does not pick up inbound voice calls. AgentZap and RingBooker pitch voice overlays on Vagaro. Those are their products, not Vagaro's.
- Is Front Desk cheaper than Vagaro?
- Vagaro is software in the tens of dollars. Platform is $160/mo and is our software lane. Front Desk is $547/mo flat for the hire, with Platform included. Compare that to a W-2 desk or a phone overlay, not to a calendar license.
- Do you integrate with Vagaro?
- No native Vagaro integration or write-back. Front Desk books SalonSpot. Switch the book (Platform plus Front Desk is one book and one desk) or keep Vagaro and accept the desk gap.
- How do I test Front Desk?
- Call (971) 451-2715 or book https://cal.com/aaron-mai/30min. See /pricing and /demo.
